Windows 10 End of Life Compliance Checklist (for MSPs)

Use this checklist to help your clients (and yourself) stay secure, compliant, and calm.

Estate Audit

  • Generate a list of all devices using your RMM tool

  • Identify all devices running Windows 10

  • Check each device’s hardware compatibility for Windows 11 (TPM 2.0, CPU, RAM)

  • Flag any devices 5+ years old for recommended replacement

Client Communication

  • Send personalised alerts to affected users and decision-makers

  • Explain risks in business terms: security, insurance, compliance, operational cost

  • Include Cyber Essentials risk if clients are certified or plan to be

Upgrade & Refresh Planning

  • Group devices into “upgradeable” vs “replace required” categories

  • Create phased deployment plans to avoid last-minute panic

  • Offer financing/leasing options where needed

SLA and Policy Update

  • Update Managed Services Agreements (MSAs) to exclude unsupported devices from SLA

  • Offer a “Best Efforts” support tier at premium rates for non-compliant devices (if necessary)

  • Confirm clients accept upgrade/refusal plans in writing

Cyber Essentials Compliance Check

  • Confirm no unsupported devices remain in the network scope

  • Document patching policies and system upgrade plans

  • Schedule internal CE mock audits if clients need certification renewals

Final Readiness Steps

  • Set up RMM alerts for any new Windows 10 deployments sneaking into the estate

  • Build quick dashboards to monitor Win10 vs Win11 adoption

  • Plan a final review 60 days before October 14, 2025
