Daily Stand-Up Guide for MSP Teams

A fast, simple format for running effective daily check-ins across service desks, technical teams, and leadership.

Introduction

In a busy MSP environment, communication can easily slip into chaos. Daily stand-ups are a lightweight tool to improve alignment, surface blockers, and keep the team focused, without wasting time.

This guide outlines how to structure your daily huddle, who should attend, and what outcomes to expect.

Why Run a Daily Stand-Up?

  • Promote team alignment and accountability
  • Quickly highlight and resolve blockers
  • Improve prioritisation and client responsiveness
  • Strengthen culture and connection (especially for remote teams)

Stand-ups aren’t just for agile teams, they’re ideal for service desks, project teams, and operational leadership.

Suggested Format (10–15 minutes max)

Frequency: Daily (or 3x/week)
Attendees: Team-level or function-specific (e.g. service desk, projects, NOC, leadership)
Facilitator: Rotating or fixed team lead

Standard Agenda:

  1. Yesterday: What did I complete?
  2. Today: What am I focusing on?
  3. Blockers: Is anything getting in the way?
  4. Urgent Updates: Key client issues, project shifts, or escalations

✅ Keep it short, focused, and consistent.

Tips for Success

  • Stand (literally) – it keeps meetings brief and energised
  • Use a shared tool or dashboard to anchor the conversation
  • Avoid problem-solving during the stand-up, note issues and solve after
  • For remote teams, keep cameras on and stick to the format
  • Rotate facilitation to build team ownership

Includes agenda, facilitator tips, and a reusable meeting tracker.
